ARQEN is a São Paulo-based architecture and interior design studio.
Founded in 2015, ARQEN was born from a singular belief: true architecture must engage all the senses, not just the visual.
After a decade at leading firms in São Paulo and Lisbon, Helena Vasconcellos and Rafael Mendes established the studio to reclaim the pace of their practice. They sought a return to quiet observation — giving profound attention to raw materials, natural light, and the human atmosphere of a room.
Today, from our studio in Vila Madalena, our team of eight shapes private sanctuaries, boutique hotels, and enduring cultural spaces across Brazil and Portugal.
Our Philosophy
Every project begins with listening — to the rhythm of the land, the movement of light, and the lives that will unfold within. We believe true architecture doesn't demand attention; it quietly disappears into its environment, leaving only the experience behind.
